The series is about a late night diner which is opened from midnight to dawn and the stories of its odd-ball patrons. It won the 55th Shogakukan Manga Award for general manga[1] and it was nominated for the 2nd Manga Taishō.[2] It was adapted into a 10-episode live-action television drama in 2009 called "Midnight Diner", followed by a second season in 2011, and a third season in 2014. In 2015, a live action film was released by director Joji Matsuoka starring Kaoru Kobayashi as The Master. In 2016 Netflix Japan produced an additional 10 episodes. In 2016 a second feature length film was released.
