It is located in the center of the krai. The area of the district is {{convert|4130|km2|sp=us}}.{{citation needed|date=January 2013}} Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Shipunovo.[1] Population: {{ru-census|p2010=33,285|p2002=36,299|p1989=36,810}} The population of the administrative center accounts for 36.4% of the district's total population.
