His reign began in 1756. Although a period of relative stability, he had to contend with a tsunami in 1771 that devastated the Miyako Islands and Yaeyama Islands.[1] His reign also saw the Chinese envoy Chou Huang who wrote a sixteen volume topography of the islands for the Qianlong Emperor.[2] References1. ^[https://books.google.com/books?id=rfncuTnJVwgC&pg=PA152&dq=%22Sho+Boku&as_brr=3 Japan's minorities By Michael Weiner, pg 152] {{s-start}}{{s-hou|Second Shō Dynasty}}{{s-reg}}{{S-bef|before=Shō Kei}}{{S-ttl|title=King of Ryukyu|years=1752–1794}}{{S-aft|after=Shō On}}{{s-end}}{{Monarchs of Ryukyu}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Boku}}{{Asia-royal-stub}}2. ^[https://books.google.com/books?id=Q5IrAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA115&dq=%22Sho+Boku&as_brr=3 Ryukyu Kingdom and Province before 1945 By George H.
