Sir Edmund Bacon, 5th Baronet (7 August 1693 – 4 October 1738)[1] was a British politician. He was the oldest son of Sir Edmund Bacon, 4th Baronet and his first wife Philippa Bacon, daughter of Sir Edmund Bacon, 4th Baronet, of Redgrave.[2] He attended school in Beccles and Bishop Stortford before studying at Caius College, Cambridge.[3] In 1721, he succeeded his father as baronet.[4] Between 1722 and 1738, Bacon was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Thetford.[5] On 7 November 1724, Bacon married Susan Rebow, daughter of Sir Isaac Rebow at the Chapel Royal in St James's Palace.[6] They had a daughter and two sons.[2] Bacon died at Bath, Somerset[6] and was buried at Gillingham, Norfolk, two weeks later.[7] Edmund, his only surviving son, succeeded to the baronetcy.[4] References1. ^{{cite web | url = http://www.leighrayment.com/baronetage/baronetsB1.htm | title = Leigh Rayment - Baronetage | accessdate = 10 April 2009 }} {{S-start}}{{s-par|gb}}{{s-bef| before = John Ward 2. ^1 {{cite book | last = Debrett | first = John | publisher = G.
