Incorporating the 14-story[1] former Barclays American building built in 1961,[2] it has {{convert|236697|sqft|m2}} of office and retail space and a 698-space parking deck. It includes gray and green granite and green glass with ornamental metal.[3] HistoryThe George Cutter Building and the NCNB Building across the street may have been the state's first Miesian glass and steel skyscrapers.[4] Their design was based on the Lever House skyscraper in New York City.[2] American Credit Corporation, whose "ACC" logo on top of the building became prominent in Charlotte's skyline, became Barclays American in 1980.[5] Spectrum Properties renovated the BarclaysAmerican building in the 1990s.[6] Tearing the building down was considered, but developers added a new exterior.[7]At the time the building was sold for $68.5 million to a pension fund for the city of Detroit in 2006, major tenants included Wachovia, Dean & DeLuca, and a Marriott Courtyard hotel. Spectrum continued to manage the building.[8] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?cityID=536|title=Charlotte|publisher=skyscraperpage.com|accessdate=2009-03-26}} 2. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.cmhpf.org/educationarchitecturept2.htm|title=Charlotte Architecture: Design Through Time Part 2|first=Dr. Thomas W.|last=Hanchett|publisher=Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission|accessdate=2009-03-26}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.ppmglobal-properties.com/10/SouthTryonSquareHome.html|title=201 South Tryon|accessdate=2012-04-10}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.cmhpf.org/postww2survey.htm|title=Final Report: Post World War Two Survey|last1=Wyatt|first1=Sherry Joines|last2=Woodard|first2=Sarah|publisher=Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission|accessdate=2010-12-21| archiveurl= https://web.archive.org/web/20101215052857/http://cmhpf.org/postww2survey.htm| archivedate= 15 December 2010 | deadurl= no}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/Barclays-plc-Company-History.html|title=Barclays plc - Company History|publisher=fundinguniverse.com|accessdate=2009-03-28}} 6. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/stories/1999/01/11/story1.html|title=South Tryon tower joining parade of new development|work=Charlotte Business Journal|first=J.
