Madero borough, in the north of Mexico City.[1] The station logo depicts the nearby La Raza Monument, a pyramid-shaped construction erected in honor to Mexico's many native peoples and cultures.[1][2][3] La Raza is a transfer station that combines underground construction for Line 3 and surface construction for Line 5. The Insurgentes Metrobús bus rapid transit line also has a stop in the vicinity of La Raza station.[1][4] The station opened on 25 August 1978 with service on Line 3 southward towards Tlatelolco.[10] Northward service on Line 3 towards Indios Verdes started 1 December 1979.[10] Southeasterly service along Line 5 towards Consulado started on 1 July 1982, and the northeasterly service towards Politécnico started on 30 August 1982.[5] This station has the largest cultural display in the entire Metro system, known as "El Túnel de la Ciencia" (The Tunnel of Science).[6] This permanent exhibition was installed by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in the extraordinarily long corridor that joins the Line 3 and Line 5 platforms.[6] La Raza station has also an information desk and office with miscellaneous information about the Metro, science and more, and facilities for the handicapped.[1] References1. ^1 2 3 4 {{Cite web|url=http://www.metro.df.gob.mx/red/estacion.html?id=47|title=La Raza|language=Spanish|publisher=Sistema de Transporte Colectivo|accessdate=20 August 2011|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110808174351/http://www.metro.df.gob.mx/red/estacion.html?id=47|archivedate=8 August 2011|df=}} 2. ^1 {{Cite web|last=Archambault|first=Richard|url=http://mexicometro.org/metro/line3/la-raza/|title=La Raza (Line 3) » Mexico City Metro System|accessdate=20 August 2011}} 3. ^1 {{Cite web|last=Archambault|first=Richard|url=http://mexicometro.org/metro/line5/la-raza/|title=La Raza (Line 5) » Mexico City Metro System|accessdate=20 August 2011}} 4. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.metrobus.df.gob.mx/fichas.html |title=Metrobús - Ciudad de México: Ficha técnicas |language=Spanish |publisher=Mexico City Metrobús |accessdate=20 August 2011 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110807075714/http://www.metrobus.df.gob.mx/fichas.html |archivedate=7 August 2011 |df= }} 5. ^1 2 {{Cite web|last=Monroy|first=Marco|editor-last=Schwandl|editor-first=Robert|url=http://www.urbanrail.net/am/mexi/mex-history.htm|title=Opening Dates for Mexico City's Subway|accessdate=14 August 2011}} 6. ^1 {{Cite web|url=http://www.metro.df.gob.mx/cultura/tunel.html|title=El Túnel de la Ciencia|language=Spanish|publisher=Sistema de Transporte Colectivo|accessdate=20 August 2011|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110808171341/http://www.metro.df.gob.mx/cultura/tunel.html|archivedate=8 August 2011|df=}} External links{{Commons category|La Raza (station)|position=left}}{{Gustavo A.
