The Speyside Cooperage is a cooperage located in Craigellachie, Aberlour, Scotland. Its visitor centre, the only such in Britain, is part of the Malt Whisky Trail.[1] [2]Each year, it produces and repairs nearly 150,000 oak casks used by the surrounding Speyside Whisky distilleries, as well as distilleries elsewhere throughout Scotland.[1] Owned by the Taylor family since its founding in 1947, the cooperage was sold in 2008 to the French firm Tonnellerie François Frères.[3] {{clear}}References1. ^1 {{cite web | last = Smith | first = Gavin | title = Speyside Cooperage | publisher = The Scottish Malt Whisky Society | date = 1 November 1998 | url = http://www.smws.co.uk/your-society-adventure/article-archive/article.html?article=82 | accessdate = 4 January 2009}} 2. ^{{cite web | last = MacDonald | first = Ian | title = Fish tales and the Whisky Trail | work = BBC | date = 29 April 2005 | url = http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/4499187.stm | accessdate = 4 January 2009}} 3. ^{{cite news | last = Bradley | first = Jane | title = French buy Speyside Cooperage | work = The Scotsman | date = 4 April 2008 | url = http://business.scotsman.com/business/French--buy-Speyside-Cooperage.3947677.jp | accessdate = 4 January 2009}} External links
