MGPs are simple blowback designs firing from an open bolt. They are equipped with folding stocks which stabilize the weapon when firing at longer ranges. All versions may be fitted with a suppressor and are meant to use Uzi magazines. VariantsMGP-79/79 AThe MGP-79 was the first MGP SMG developed from 1979–1985,[3] adopted by Peruvian security forces including police and military.[4] The barrel can be removed and replaced by a barrel/silencer assembly for covert missions.[5] In addition, the front end of the receiver has a threaded portion, which is used to mount a perforated barrel jacket to allow the operator to aim the weapon better.[5] Its butt can be folded to the front in order to provide extra grip.[5] MGP-87The MGP-87 is an updated version of the MGP-79A, developed in 1987.[6] It was made more compact than its predecessor.[7] Like the MGP-79A, the barrel can be unscrewed and replaced by a combined barrel and silencer assembly for covert operations.[8] MGP-15{{main|MGP-15 submachine gun}}The MGP-15 was developed in 1990.[9] Had been adopted by the Peruvian Military to replace Browning Hi-Power pistols.[2] MGP-84The MGP-84 is an updated version of the MGP-15, mainly used for close protection duties.[10] MGP-14The MGP-14 Micro is a semi-automatic combat submachine gun of the MGP-84,[11] which was known formerly as MGP-84C.[12] It's also known as the MGP-14 pistol.[13] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.janes.com/extracts/extract/jpse/jpse0102.html |title=9 mm MGP-14 pistol (Peru), PISTOLS |accessdate=2009-01-31 |publisher=Jane's Information Group |date=2003-06-02 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20090504100535/http://www.janes.com/extracts/extract/jpse/jpse0102.html |archivedate=May 4, 2009 }} 2. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.riflesnguns.com/submachine/sima/mgp84|title=SIMA MGP-84|publisher=Rifles n Guns|accessdate=2009-01-31|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20090515161219/http://www.riflesnguns.com/submachine/sima/mgp84|archivedate=2009-05-15|df=}} 3. ^{{cite web |url=site=http://www.gunsworld.com/gun_smg/mgp_79a.htm |title= |access-date=January 26, 2017}}{{dead link|date=January 2017|bot=medic}}{{cbignore|bot=medic}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.janes.com/extract/idr95/idr00598.html|title=PERU'S MGP-84 MINI TOWARDS A MORE COMPACT SUB-MACHINEGUN, Archived|accessdate=2009-01-31|date=1995-08-01|publisher=Jane's Information Group}} {{Dead link|date=October 2010|bot=H3llBot}} 5. ^1 2 Hogg, Page 208. 6. ^{{cite web |url=site=http://www.gunsworld.com/gun_smg/mgp_87.htm |title= |access-date=January 26, 2017}}{{dead link|date=January 2017|bot=medic}}{{cbignore|bot=medic}} 7. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.securityarms.com/20010315/galleryfiles/2000/2097.htm|title=SIMA-CEFAR MGP87|accessdate=2009-01-31|publisher=Security Arms}} 8. ^Hogg, Page 209. 9. ^{{cite web |url=site=http://www.gunsworld.com/gun_smg/mgp_15.htm |title= |access-date=January 26, 2017}}{{dead link|date=January 2017|bot=medic}}{{cbignore|bot=medic}} 10. ^{{cite web|url=http://disarmament.un.org/cab/nationalreports/2002/peru-annex1-e.PDF|title=ANNEX I|date=2003-05-06|accessdate=2009-01-31}} {{Dead link|date=October 2010|bot=H3llBot}} 11. ^{{cite web |url=site=http://www.bellum.nu/armoury/MGP84.html |title= |access-date=January 26, 2017}}{{dead link|date=January 2017|bot=medic}}{{cbignore|bot=medic}} 12. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.smallarmsreview.com/february.htm|title=Subguns From The Inca Land|accessdate=2009-01-31|author=Ronaldo Olive|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20090216181045/http://smallarmsreview.com/february.htm|archivedate=2009-02-16|df=}} 13. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.janes.com/extracts/extract/jpse/jpse0102.html |title=9 mm MGP-14 pistol (Peru), PISTOLS |date=2003-06-02 |accessdate=2009-01-31 |publisher=Jane's Information Group |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20090504100535/http://www.janes.com/extracts/extract/jpse/jpse0102.html |archivedate=May 4, 2009 }}
