He is from the village of Kandulapalem, East Godavari District.[1]. He is well-known for creating a huge impact on the Telugu Cinema in the genre of comedy and making entertainers. His first mainstream movie as a director was Nee Kosam (1999) starring Ravi Teja and Maheswari. Though the movie was an average flick at the box office, it was critically acclaimed. He shot to fame with his second movie Anandam (2001), released in 2001. This can be observed in his movies Sontham,Venky,Andarivaadu,Dhee, Dubai Seenu,Ready,King (2008 film) and Namo Venkatesa and. He played a cameo in Rainbow and Parama Veera Chakra movies. Two of the biggest blockbusters in his career were Dookudu starring Mahesh Babu and Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Baadshah (2013 film) starring NTR Jr and Kajal Aggarwal. Since Venky, he has successfully collaborated with Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan who guide him in writing and screenplay respectively. He worked with top actors in Tollywood like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Ravi Teja, Mahesh Babu, N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan.
