}}Stefanie Vögele (born 10 March 1990) is a professional Swiss tennis player. She reached her highest WTA singles ranking of No. 42 on 11 November 2013. Her career high in doubles is No. 103, which she reached on 12 January 2015.[1]

Biography

Vögele is coached by Ivo Werner. She has three sisters and speaks German, English, and French. She was introduced to tennis at age 4 by her parents.[2]

Tennis career

2009

For the first five months of the year, Vögele participated in several WTA events, needing to play through the qualifying rounds of most tournaments. During this period, she never won a main-draw match in a WTA event.[3] Vögele also played in ITF tournaments.

In June, Vögele played in Birmingham, defeating seeded Ekaterina Makarova en route to a quarterfinal showing.[4] Playing at Wimbledon for the first time, she lost to defending champion Venus Williams in the first round.[5]

Vögele had strong showings in July, advancing to the second round and semifinals in Prague and Portorož, respectively.[6]

2010

Playing at her third French Open, she lost to Serena Williams in the first round.

2011

In 2011, Stefanie failed to qualify for the main draw of the Grand Slams. She lost in the first round of qualifiers of the Australian Open to Lesia Tsurenko. At Roland Garros, she defeated María Irigoyen and Misaki Doi, before losing to Heather Watson. She lost in the first round of Wimbledon qualifiers to Carla Suárez Navarro. At the US Open, she defeated Lenka Wienerová, before losing to Aleksandra Wozniak.

2012

Vögele began her year at the 2012 Brisbane International. In the 1st round of qualifying, she defeated Australian wildcard Sally Peers 6-4, 6-2. In the 2nd round of qualifying, she defeated Akgul Amanmuradova 6-2 ret. In the final round of qualifying, she lost to 1st seed Vania King 7-5, 4-6, 6-0. At the 2012 Apia International Sydney, Vögele qualified by defeating Victoria Larrière 6-3, 6-3; Michaëlla Krajicek 6-2, 6-4; and Bojana Jovanovski 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. In the 1st round, she lost to 3rd seed and eventual champion Victoria Azarenka 6-2, 6-1.[7] Vögele, as the 20th seed, qualified for the 2012 Australian Open by defeating Lara Arruabarrena 6-4, 6-2; Mihaela Buzărnescu 6-3, 4-6, 6-2; and Michelle Larcher de Brito 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. In the 1st round, Vögele lost to 14th seed Sabine Lisicki 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.[8]

At the 2012 Copa Sony Ericsson Colsanitas, Vögele lost in the 1st round to 1st seed Marina Erakovic 6-3, 6-4. However, in doubles, Vögele and her partner Mandy Minella reached the final where they lost to 1st seed Eva Birnerová/Alexandra Panova 6-2, 6-2.[9] At the 2012 Monterrey Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to 3rd seed Sorana Cîrstea 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.[10] After Monterrey, Vögele competed at the 25K tournament in Clearwater, Florida. In the 1st round, she defeated Allie Kiick 7-6(4), 6-1. In the 2nd round, she defeated Hsieh Su-Wei 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(1). In the quarterfinals, she defeated Camila Giorgi 6-4, 6-4. However, in the semifinals, she lost to Garbiñe Muguruza 6-1, 6-2. At the 2012 Sony Ericsson Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round of qualifying to 24th seed Valeria Savinykh 7-5, 3-1 ret. After Miami, Vögele played at the 50K tournament in Osprey, Florida. In the 1st round, she defeated Mirjana Lučić-Baroni 6-2, 6-4. In the 2nd round, Vögele lost to Edina Gallovits 6-3, 7-6(3).

Vögele, as the 9th seed, successfully qualified for the 2012 Family Circle Cup by defeating Ani Mijačika 6-1, 6-2 and 16th seed Caroline Garcia 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. In the 1st round, she defeated Jarmila Gajdošová 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.[11] In the 2nd round, she beat Lucie Hradecká 6-4, 6-4. In the 3rd round, Vögele lost to 4th seed Vera Zvonareva 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.[12] At the 2012 e-Boks Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to Bojana Jovanovski 6-3, 6-4.[13] Seeded 4th for qualifying at the 2012 Budapest Grand Prix, Vögele lost in the 1st round of qualifying to Rika Fujiwara 7-6(4), 7-6(5). At the 100K tournament in Prague, Vögele defeated Stéphanie Foretz in the 1st round 6-4, 7-6(7). In the 2nd round, she withdrew from her match against Ayumi Morita. Seeded 9th for qualifying at the 2012 French Open, Vögele beat Noppawan Lertcheewakarn in the 1st round of qualifying 6-0, 6-4. In the 2nd round of qualifying, Vögele lost to Julia Cohen 6-3, 6-3.

Seeded 8th for qualifying at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships, Vögele defeated Grace Min in the 1st round of qualifying 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. In the 2nd round of qualifying, Vögele lost to Kristýna Plíšková 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

After Wimbledon, Vögele played at the 100K tournament in Biella. She lost in the 1st round to Alexandra Cadanţu 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.[14] At the 100K event in Biarritz, Vögele defeated Amra Sadiković in the 1st round 1-6, 7-5, 7-5. In the 2nd round, she lost to Romina Oprandi 6-4, 6-3. At the 100K+H event in Bucharest, Vögele lost in the 2nd round to Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3, 6-1. At the 100K tournament in Olomouc, Vögele lost in the 1st round to Yvonne Meusburger 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-4.

Vögele, the 27th seed, successfully qualified for the 2012 US Open by defeating Petra Rampre 1-6, 6-1, 6-4; Ekaterina Bychkova 7-5, 6-3; and Heidi El Tabakh 6-4, 6-3. In the 1st round, she lost to fellow qualifier Edina Gallovits-Hall 7-5, 6-4.[15]

Vögele lost in the final at the 75K event in Shrewsbury to Annika Beck 6-2, 6-4.[16] However, she bounced back by winning the 25K tournament in Clermont-Ferrand defeating Tatjana Malek in the final 6-4, 6-1. At the 2012 Generali Ladies Linz, Vögele beat Tatjana Malek in the 1st round of qualifying 6-4, 6-3. In the 2nd round of qualifying, she lost to 1st seed Irina-Camelia Begu 6-1, 5-7, 6-4. Vögele lost in the semifinals at the 50K event in Limoges to Claire Feuerstein 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(5). At the 100K tournament in Poitiers, Vögele lost in the quarterfinals to Monica Puig 6-2, 6-4.

2013

Vögele began her year by playing at the 1st edition of the 2013 Shenzhen Open. As the 1st seed in qualifying, she successfully qualified by beating Zarina Diyas and 5th seed Caroline Garcia. In the 1st round, she defeated Tímea Babos 6-4, 7-5.[17] In the 2nd round, Vögele lost to 2nd seed Marion Bartoli 7-5, 6-4.[18] At the 2013 Australian Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to 30th seed Tamira Paszek 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.[19]

Vögele qualified for the 2013 Open GDF Suez by defeating 8th seed Mandy Minella, Stéphanie Foretz, and Monica Puig. After winning her 1st round match over Tsvetana Pironkova, she lost in the 2nd round to 2nd seed and 2011 Open GDF Suez Champion Petra Kvitová 7-6(5), 6-3.[20] Vögele reached the semifinals of the 2013 U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships by defeating Sílvia Soler Espinosa, qualifier Claire Feuerstein, and 4th seed Heather Watson. She was defeated in her semifinal match by eventual champion Marina Erakovic 6-2, 6-4.[21] Seeded 1 for qualifying at the 2013 BNP Paribas Open, Vögele lost in the final to 17th seed Mirjana Lučić-Baroni 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-3. Despite losing in the final round of qualifying, she received a Lucky Loser spot into the main draw. In the 1st round, she defeated Petra Martić 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.[22] She lost in the 2nd round to 10th seed Nadia Petrova 6-2, 6-3. Seeded 2nd for qualifying at the 2013 Sony Open Tennis, Vögele qualified for the main draw by beating Alexandra Cadanţu and 21st seed Galina Voskoboeva. In the 1st round, she again defeated Petra Martić 6-3, 6-3. She lost in the 2nd round to 30th seed Kirsten Flipkens 6-4, 6-2.

Vögele began her clay court season at the 2013 Family Circle Cup. She defeated qualifier Teliana Pereira in the 1st round 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. In the 2nd round, she upset 7th seed Carla Suárez Navarro 6-2, 6-4.[23] In the 3rd round, she upset 10th seed Julia Görges 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.[24] In the quarterfinals, Vögele had a huge win over 2011 Family Circle Cup Champion, 2nd seed, and former world number 1 Caroline Wozniacki 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.[25] With this win, she reached her 2nd semifinal of the year. In the semifinal, she lost to 2007 Family Circle Cup Champion, 9th seed, former world number 1, and eventual finalist Jelena Janković 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-2.[26] Playing against Australia at the 2013 Fed Cup World Group Play-offs, Vögele lost both of her rubbers to Ashleigh Barty 6-3, 6-4 and Samantha Stosur 6-0, 6-4. Australia defeated Switzerland 3-1.[27] Seeded 3rd for qualifying at the 2013 Mutua Madrid Open, Vögele defeated Olga Puchkova in the 1st round of qualifying 6-2, 6-4. In the final round of qualifying, Vögele lost to 13th seed Lesia Tsurenko 7-6(4), 6-4. Entering the main draw as a Lucky Loser, Vögele lost in the 1st round to wildcard Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-3, 6-3. Seeded 2nd for qualifying at the 2013 Internazionali BNL d'Italia, Vögele lost in the 1st round of qualifying to María Teresa Torró Flor 7-6(4), 6-2. Vögele began her grass court season at the 2013 Topshelf Open. She defeated qualifier Yulia Putintseva in the 1st round 7-5, 4-6, 7-5. In the 2nd round, she lost to Lucky Loser Lesia Tsurenko 6-1, 7-6(4). At the 2013 Wimbledon Championships, Vögele lost in the 1st round to 22nd seed Sorana Cîrstea 7-5, 7-6(3).

Vögele began her US Open series at the 2013 Bank of the West Classic. She defeated wildcard Ajla Tomljanović in the 1st round 6-4, 6-0.[31] In the 2nd round, she lost to 3rd seed and eventual champion Dominika Cibulková 7-5, 7-6(5).[32] Playing at the 2013 Citi Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to 6th seed Mona Barthel 6-2, 6-2.[33] Seeded 5th for qualifying at the 2013 Western & Southern Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round of qualifying to Sofia Arvidsson 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Seeded 5th for qualifying at the 2013 New Haven Open at Yale, Vögele qualified by defeating American wildcard Katerina Stewart 2-6, 6-2, 6-2; Alexandra Cadanţu 6-2, 6-0; and Yaroslava Shvedova 6-3, 3-6, 2-1 ret. In the 1st round, she lost to American and fellow qualifier Alison Riske 7-5, 6-1. At the 2013 US Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to World Number 105 Anna Karolína Schmiedlová 6-1, 5-7, 7-6(4).

Playing at the 2013 Toray Pan Pacific Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to 9th seed Sloane Stephens 6-3, 6-2.[34] At the 2013 China Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to 2011 China Open Champion and 3rd seed Agnieszka Radwańska 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.[35] Vögele reached her 3rd semifinal of the year at the 2013 Generali Ladies Linz by defeating Klára Zakopalová 5-7, 7-5, 6-0; Karin Knapp 4-6, 6-2, 7-5; and 2nd seed Sloane Stephens 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-5. In the semifinal, she lost to 3rd seed and eventual finalist Ana Ivanovic 6-4, 6-4.[36] Her final tournament of the year was the 2013 BGL Luxembourg Open. She reached the semifinals by defeating 6th seed Mona Barthel 1-6, 6-4, 7-6(3); Karolína Plíšková 6-1, 3-6, 6-3; and 2nd seed Sloane Stephens 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Vögele retired in her semifinal match against eventual finalist Annika Beck at 7-5, 1-0 due to a left thigh injury.[37]

2014

Vögele began the year by playing at the 2014 Brisbane International. In the 1st round, she defeated Madison Keys 6-4, 6-3. In the 2nd round, she received a walkover when 7th seed Sabine Lisicki withdrew due to gastrointestinal illness.[38] In the quarterfinals, Vögele lost to 2nd seed and eventual finalist Victoria Azarenka 6-4, 6-7(7), 6-1.[39] At the 2014 Australian Open, Vögele defeated Kristina Mladenovic in the 1st round 7-5, 7-5. In the 2nd round, she lost to 20th seed and eventual finalist Dominika Cibulková 6-0, 6-1.

After the Australian Open, Vögele competed at the 2014 Open GDF Suez. In the 1st round, she lost to qualifier Galina Voskoboeva 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(3).[40] Playing against France at the 2014 Fed Cup World Group II, Vögele lost the only rubber she played to Virginie Razzano 6-2, 6-1. France ended up defeating Switzerland 3-2. At the 2014 Qatar Total Open, Vögele defeated Alizé Cornet in the 1st round 7-6(6), 7-5.[41] In the 2nd round, she lost to wildcard Alisa Kleybanova 6-3, 6-2.[42] Seeded 7th at the 2014 Abierto Mexicano Telcel, Vögele lost in the 1st round to Kimiko Date-Krumm 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-4.[43] At the 2014 BNP Paribas Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to Annika Beck 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.[44] At the 2014 Sony Open Tennis, Vögele lost in the 1st round to wildcard Casey Dellacqua 6-3, 6-2.

Vögele began her clay court season at the 2014 Family Circle Cup where she was the last year semifinalist. In the 1st round, she lost to Ajla Tomljanović 6-7(4), 6-1, 7-5.[45] After Charleston, Vögele competed at the 2014 Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem. In the 1st round, she defeated Sílvia Soler Espinosa 6-3, 6-2. In the 2nd round, Vögele lost to 5th seed and eventual semifinalist Garbiñe Muguruza 6-3, 6-2. At the 2014 Portugal Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to Polona Hercog 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. At the 2014 Mutua Madrid Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to qualifier Petra Cetkovská 6-1, 6-3. Vögele began her grass court season at the 2014 Aegon Classic. She lost in the 1st round to 12th seed Monica Puig 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-2.[46] At the 2014 Aegon International, Vögele played qualifying. In the 1st round of qualifying, Vögele defeated Vesna Dolonc 6-1, 6-3. In the 2nd round of qualifying, she lost to 1st seed Karolína Plíšková 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-3. At the 2014 Wimbledon Championships, Vögele lost in the 1st round to wildcard Jarmila Gajdošová 6-3, 7-6(6).[47]

After Wimbledon, Vögele played at the 2014 Gastein Ladies. At the 2014 Connecticut Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round of qualifying to American Nicole Gibbs 6-4, 6-2. At the 2014 US Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to qualifier Saisai Zheng 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.

After the US Open, Vögele played at the 2014 Korea Open. In the 1st round, Vögele lost to Kristýna Plíšková 6-3, 7-6(4).[54] After the Korea Open, Vögele competed at the 1st edition of the 2014 Wuhan Open. Seeded 12th for qualifying, Vögele defeated wildcard Ran Tian in the 1st round of qualifying 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-2. In the final round of qualifying, Vögele defeated Bethanie Mattek-Sands 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 to qualify for the main draw. In the 1st round, she lost to fellow qualifier and compatriot Timea Bacsinszky 6-1, 7-5. Seeded 8th for qualifying at the 2014 China Open, Vögele defeated Mandy Minella in the 1st round of qualifying 6-1, 6-2. In the final round of qualifying, she lost to Bethanie Mattek-Sands 6-4, 6-4. Vögele began the year at the 2015 Shenzhen Open. She lost in the 1st round to compatriot, 8th seed, and eventual finalist Timea Bacsinszky 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.[58] After the Shenzhen Open, Vögele played at the 2015 Apia International Sydney. In the 1st round of qualifying, she defeated Australian wildcard Arina Rodionova 6-2, 6-3. In the 2nd round of qualifying, Vögele lost to Lesia Tsurenko 7-6(6), 6-4. At the 2015 Australian Open, Vögele defeated Pauline Parmentier in the 1st round 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. In the 2nd round, she lost to Caroline Garcia 6-3, 6-4.[59]

At the 2015 PTT Thailand Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to 7th seed Monica Puig 6-2, 7-6(4).[60] Seeded 11th for qualifying at the 2015 Dubai Tennis Championships, Vögele lost in the 1st round of qualifying to Misa Eguchi 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. Vögele qualified for the 2015 Qatar Total Open by defeating Yuliya Beygelzimer 6-3, 6-4; Francesca Schiavone 6-2, 6-3; and Yulia Putintseva 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. In the 1st round, she lost to Karolína Plíšková 7-6(4), 6-4.[61] At the 2015 Malaysian Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to 6th seed Kurumi Nara 6-3, 7-6(4).[62] Seeded 17th for qualifying at the 2015 Miami Open, Vögele qualified for the main draw by defeating Shahar Pe'er 7-5, 6-4 and Zhu Lin 6-1, 6-1. In the 1st round, she beat Kirsten Flipkens 6-2, 6-2. In the 2nd round, Vögele lost to 12th seed and eventual finalist Carla Suárez Navarro 6-3, 6-1.[63]

At the 2015 French Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to Vitalia Diatchenko 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. At the 100K tournament in Marseille, Vögele lost in the 1st round to Maryna Zanevska 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.

Vögele began her grass court season at the 1st edition of the 2015 Aegon Open Nottingham. In the 1st round, she lost to Mirjana Lučić-Baroni 6-0, 4-6, 6-3. At the 2015 Aegon Classic, Vögele lost in the 1st round of qualifying to Çağla Büyükakçay 6-2, 2-0 ret. At the 2015 Wimbledon Championships, Vögele lost in the 1st round to 21st seed Madison Keys 6-7(6), 6-3, 6-4.[64]

After Wimbledon, Vögele played at the 100K tournament in Contrexeville. She defeated Lara Michel in the 1st round 7-5, 6-3 and Jeļena Ostapenko in the 2nd round 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(3). In the quarterfinals, Vögele lost to Teliana Pereira 7-6(4), 6-4.[65] At the 2015 BRD Bucharest Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to Anna Tatishvili 6-4, 7-5. At the 2015 Gastein Ladies, she was defeated in the 1st round by Johanna Larsson 6-2, 6-2.[66] At the 2015 Baku Cup, Vögele lost in the 1st round to 2nd seed Karin Knapp 6-1, 6-4.

Seeded 28th for qualifying at the 2015 US Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round of qualifying to Mandy Minella 6-2, 7-5. Seeded 6th for qualifying at the 2015 Japan Women's Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round of qualifying to Hiroko Kuwata 5-7, 6-0, 6-4. Seeded 7th for qualifying at the 2015 Toray Pan Pacific Open, Vögele defeated Junri Namigata in the 1st round of qualifying 2-6, 6-2, 7-5. In the 2nd round of qualifying, she lost to Misa Eguchi 6-3, 7-5. At the 2015 Tashkent Open, Vögele qualified for the main draw by defeating wildcard Vlada Ekshibarova 6-1, 6-3 and 8th seed Ekaterina Bychkova 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. In the 1st round, she lost to 4th seed Johanna Larsson 6-3, 6-3.[67] At the 2015 Generali Ladies Linz, Vögele qualified for the main draw by beating 5th seed Tereza Smitková 6-3, 6-4; Donna Vekić 6-3, 6-4; and 4th seed Jeļena Ostapenko 6-3, 7-6(1). In the 1st round, she defeated wildcard Tamira Paszek 6-4, 7-5.[68] In the 2nd round, Vögele lost to 7th seed and eventual champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-4, 6-0.[69] At the 2015 BGL Luxembourg Open, Vögele was given a wildcard. In the 1st round, she defeated Urszula Radwańska 6-3, 4-0 ret. Urszula retired due to a low back injury.[70] In the 2nd round, she beat Anna-Lena Friedsam 6-3, 7-6(4). In the quarterfinals, she defeated Lucky Loser Laura Siegemund 6-4, 2-6, 6-1. In the semifinals, Vögele lost to Mona Barthel 6-2, 6-3.[71] After Luxembourg, Vögele played at the 100K tournament in Poitiers. She defeated Amandine Hesse in the 1st round 6-0, 6-3 and Kirsten Flipkens in the 2nd round 6-1, 3-6, 6-0. In the quarterfinals, Vögele lost to Pauline Parmentier 6-1, 6-4.

At the 2015 Open de Limoges, Vögele lost in the 1st round to Lucky Loser Mandy Minella 6-4, 6-2. Seeded 7th at the 2015 OEC Taipei WTA Challenger, Vögele defeated Lee Ya-hsuan in the 1st round 7-6(4), 6-4. In the 2nd round, she beat Maria Sakkari 6-1, 6-1. In the quarterfinals, she lost to 4th seed and eventual champion Tímea Babos 6-4, 7-5.[72] At the $75,000 +H event in Toyota, Vögele defeated Ankita Raina in the 1st round 6-1, 6-4. In the 2nd round, she lost to Luksika Kumkhum 6-2, 6-3.

Her final tournament of the year was the 25K tournament in Bangkok. In the 1st round, she defeated Kyoka Okamura 6-1, 6-4. In the 2nd round, Vögele lost to Ran Tian 6-3, 6-1.

Vögele ended the year ranked 122.

2016

Vögele began the year at the 2016 Shenzhen Open. Seeded 3rd in qualifying, she lost in the final round of qualifying to 8th seed Zhang Kailin 6-3, 7-6(4). However, due to Magda Linette pulling out of the tournament because of a gastrointestinal illness, Vögele entered the main draw as a Lucky Loser. In the 1st round, she lost to Vania King 7-5, 6-4.[73] Next, Vögele competed at the 2016 Apia International Sydney. She lost in the 1st round of qualifying to Lauren Davis 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(4). Seeded 9th for qualifying at the 2016 Australian Open, Vögele was defeated in the 2nd round of qualifying, she lost to Luksika Kumkhum 6-3, 6-4.

After the Australian Open, Vögele played at the 50K tournament in Andrézieux-Bouthéon, France. Vögele won the tournament defeating An-Sophie Mestach in the final 6-1, 6-2.[74] Vögele then competed at the 1st edition of the 2016 Taiwan Open. In the 1st round, she defeated Kai-Chen Chang 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. In the 2nd round, she beat 5th seed Saisai Zheng 6-4, 6-4.[75] Vögele retired in her quarterfinal match against 3rd seed Yulia Putintseva. Vögele retired due to dizziness after losing the 1st set 6-3.[76] Seeded 12th for qualifying at the 2016 Qatar Total Open, Vögele defeated Barbora Krejčíková in the 1st round of qualifying 6-3, 6-2. In the final round of qualifying, she lost to 1st seed Kirsten Flipkens 7-6(3), 2-6, 6-3. At the 2016 Malaysian Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round to Kristína Kučová 7-6(4), 6-4. At the 2016 Miami Open, Vögele lost in the 1st round of qualifying to 23rd seed Lourdes Domínguez Lino 6-2, 7-5.

After Miami, Vögele played at the 50K tournament in Croissy-Beaubourg. She lost in the quarterfinals to Océane Dodin 7-6(4), 6-3.[77] At the 2016 Katowice Open, Vögele upset 6th seed Lesia Tsurenko in the 1st round 6-4, 6-0.[78] In the 2nd round, she lost to Magda Linette 1-6, 7-5, 6-2.

Vögele began her clay court season at the 2016 İstanbul Cup. In the 1st round, she defeated Turkish wildcard İpek Soylu 6-2, 7-5.[79] In the 2nd round, she defeated Andreea Mitu 6-4, 6-1. In the quarterfinals, she defeated qualifier Kristína Kučová 7-5, 6-2 to reach her 1st semifinal of the year.[80] In the semifinals, Vögele lost to eventual champion Çağla Büyükakçay 6-0, 7-5.[81] Vögele reached three more quarterfinals later in the season, in Bol (lost to Nao Hibino), Tashkent (lost to Kateryna Kozlova) and Limoges (lost to Alizé Cornet). She ended the year ranked 113.

2017

For the third time in a row, Vögele kicked off her season at the Shenzhen Open, where she survived the qualification but subsequently lost in the first round to Ons Jabeur. At the Australian Open, she again survived the qualification and went on the defeat Kurumi Nara in the first round. She then lost to Venus Williams in the second round. Also at the Ladies' Trophy in St. Petersburg, Vögele survived the qualification but then had to withdraw from the main tournament due to a wrist injury. She did not compete in any tournaments for six months thereafter. Vögele attempted a comeback at the US Open but had to retire from the second round of qualification.[82] Her second attempt at a comeback followed a month later, at the Tashkent Open, where she reached the quarterfinals.
