This area was roughly surveyed by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition, 1901–04, under Nordenskjold. The beach was sketch surveyed and named by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) in 1951. The feature is one of a group in the vicinity named after the chemical stain used in the preparation of histological specimens collected by FIDS. {{usgs-gazetteer}}{{SouthGeorgia-geo-stub}} 1 : Beaches of South Georgia |
