Prior to 1945 it was part of the German Province of Silesia. Following World War II the native German populace was expelled and replaced by Poles. It lies approximately {{convert|10|km|mi|0}} south-east of Zgorzelec, and {{convert|138|km|mi|0}} west of the regional capital Wrocław. The village has a population of 2,014.
