}} The surge wrasse, Thalassoma purpureum, is a species of wrasse native to the southeast Atlantic Ocean through the Indian and Pacific Oceans, where it inhabits reefs and rocky coastlines in areas of heavy wave action at depths from the surface to {{convert|10|m|ft|abbr=on}}. It can grow to {{convert|46|cm|in|abbr=on}} in total length and {{convert|1.2|kg|lb|abbr=on}} in weight.
