The company is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and has its head office located in Sydney, New South Wales. HistoryIn 1989, Qantas Airways bought a 30-year lease on the domestic terminal of Sydney Airport, but sold it back to the Airport's operator in August 2015 for US$395 million.[2] In 2002, the Macquarie Bank bought a 99-year lease on the airport for $5.6 billion.[3] The company was known as Macquarie Airports as a combination of trusts managed by Macquarie Group until it was spun off in 2009 to form MAp Airports. MAp owned shareholdings in Brussels and Copenhagen Airports, and an 84.8% stake in Sydney Airport. In 2011, MAp Airports traded its stakes in the Brussels and Copenhagen airports to the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan in exchange for the OTPP's 11% stake in Sydney airport.[4] In December 2011, MAp Airports renamed itself Sydney Airport Holdings.[5] The company retained a 1% stake in Bristol Airport until 2013.[6] In 2013 Sydney Airport Holdings took a 100% stake in Sydney Airport by issuing securities to, or buying out, minority owners of the airport, which included various superannuation funds.[7] In August 2013, it was revealed that, since the airport had been acquired by the Macquarie Bank in 2002, it didn't pay corporate taxes, even though all other airports in the country did.[8] In November 2013, the Macquarie Bank sold its shares of the airport back to its own shareholders, cashing $377 million in the process.[3] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://annualreport.sydneyairport.com.au/?iid=88619#folio=26|title=Financial Report for Year Ended 31 December 2013|work=|publisher=Sydney Airport Holdings|date=March 2014|accessdate=20 December 2014 }} 2. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.wsj.com/articles/qantas-sells-lease-on-sydney-airport-terminal-1439877649|title=Qantas Sells Lease on Sydney Airport Terminal|website=Wsj.com|date=18 August 2015|author=Rebecca Thurlow|access-date=2016-05-02}} 3. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.smh.com.au/business/macquarie-exits-airport-stake-20131101-2ws4c.html|title=Macquarie exits airport stake|website=Smh.com.au|date=2 November 2013|author=Matt O'Sullivan|access-date=2016-05-02}} 4. ^{{cite press release |title=Teachers' invests in premier European airports |url=http://www.newswire.ca/en/story/766315/teachers-invests-in-premier-european-airports |publisher=CNW Group |date=19 July 2011 |accessdate=23 December 2011}} 5. ^{{Cite book|title=ASX Release: Sydney Airport - change of ASX ticker to SYD|last=|first=|publisher=Sydney Airport|year=2011|isbn=|location=|pages=}} 6. ^{{Cite web | title = Ontario Teachers becomes sole owner of Bristol Airport |agency=Reuters | accessdate = 2015-02-11 | url = http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/09/17/uk-britain-airport-idUKKBN0HC11020140917 }} 7. ^{{Cite book|title=Full Ownership of Sydney Airport: ATO Resolution and SYD Simplification|last=|first=|publisher=Sydney Airport|year=2013|isbn=|location=|pages=}} 8. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.smh.com.au/business/airports-pot-of-gold-20130822-2segw.html|title=Airport's pot of gold|date=23 August 2013|author=Michael West|website=Smh.com.au|access-date=2016-05-02}} External links
