The walls are two-foot thick and covered with stucco. It was built around 1788 by Thomas Fuller, a prominent local planter.[3] It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.[1] It is also a contributing property in the Beaufort Historic District, which is a National Historic Landmark.
