The population according to the 2000 census was 1,402.[2]The district covers a total area of 13 km². The capital lies at the city of Taboga.[2]. Taboga is an island district that includes the islands of Taboga, Taboguilla, Otoque, Urabá, Melones, Chamá, and Estivá. Taboga itself is 8 miles long and is 12 miles away from the mainland.
