They trace their lineage to him via the Quanzhou Ting family of Fujian. Even as they were pretending to be Han chinese in Fujian, they still practiced Islam when they came to Taiwan 200 years ago, building a mosque, but eventually becoming Buddhist or Daoist. The mosque is now the Ding family's Daoist temple.[4] Transport
SightsThe Taixi Maritime themed park built in 1992 by the Yunlin County Government covers 121 Hectares and is a main contributor to the local economy. The park is primarily wetlands and is host to a variety of wildlife and flora including intertidal animals, such as fiddler crabs, mudskippers, sea cockroaches, egrets, herons, other migratory birds, cacti, mangroves and others.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} Representation of Taixi in the mediaIn 1982, a novel was published telling the story of a young Taixi man who escaped prison and went on a killing spree in Taiwan. Although this was fiction, it had a large impact on the way other Taiwanese people perceive its villagers to this day.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2015/08/19/2003625714|title=Yunlin commissioner pleads oyster farmers’ case|work=taipeitimes.com|access-date=January 30, 2017}} {{commons category|Taixi Township, Yunlin County}}{{Yunlin County}}{{Townships in Taiwan}}{{coord|23|42|N|120|12|E|display=title|region:TW_type:city_source:GNS-enwiki}}2. ^1 {{cite web | url =http://taisi.household.yunlin.gov.tw/population/population01.asp | script-title =人口統計 | trans-title = Population statistics | language = Chinese | date =December 2016 | website =taisi.household.yunlin.gov.tw | publisher = Taisi Township Household Registration Office, Yunlin County | access-date = January 30, 2017}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/lang/archives/2016/04/27/2003644887|first1=Yu-an|last1=Tu|date=27 April 2016|title=Farmers suffer despite white radish price hikes|publisher=Taipei Times|accessdate=26 April 2017}} 4. ^{{cite news |title=FEATURE : Taisi Township re-engages its Muslim roots|author=Loa Iok-Sin / STAFF REPORTER|newspaper=Taipei Times|page=4|date=August 31, 2008|url=http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2008/08/31/2003421916|accessdate=May 29, 2011}} 1 : Townships in Yunlin County |
