He was a member of the Writers Guild of Japan. Life and careerTakeshi Shudo is best known as chief writer of the Pokémon anime from 1997 to 2002. He also wrote the first three Pokémon films (with the third film being co-written by Hideki Sonoda), the Mewtwo Returns TV special, and the two novelizations of the anime released in 1997 and 1999. He is also notable for creating the characters of Team Rocket and their iconic motto. Shudo has been credited with creating the "unusual intelligence" of the writing in GoShogun and Minky Momo.[2] He died of a subarachnoid hemorrhage on October 29, 2010, and was posthumously given the screenplay credit in the 20th Pokémon movie in 2017.
