}}Telisai ({{Lang-ms|Mukim Telisai}}) is a mukim or subdistrict in Tutong, a district of Brunei.[1][1] It is headed by a {{Lang|ms|penghulu}}, and the incumbent is Ramli bin Lahit.[2]

Location

Telisai is located in the western part of Tutong District, facing the South China Sea to the north, as well as bordering the {{Lang|ms|mukim}} subdivisions of Pekan Tutong to the north-east, Tanjong Maya to the east, Ukong to the south-east, Bukit Sawat to the south and Liang to the south-west.[3]

Administration

Telisai is a {{Lang|ms|mukim}} subdivision, the second-level administrative division of Brunei. It is one of the eight {{Lang|ms|mukim}} or subdistricts of Tutong District. As a {{Lang|ms|mukim}}, Telisai is headed by a {{Lang|ms|penghulu}}, and is currently held by Ramli bin Lahit.[2]

The Survey Department further divides Telisai into twelve village subdivisions, namely:[3]

  • Binchaya
  • Bukit Beruang
  • Bukit Pasir
  • Danau
  • Keramut
  • Penapar Danau
  • Pengkalan Dalai
  • Penyatang
  • Sungai Paku
  • Telamba
  • Telisai
  • Tumpuan Ugas

However, the Tutong District Office, which de facto administers the {{Lang|ms|mukim}} and villages in Tutong District, only recognises three villages in Telisai, namely Bukit Beruang, Danau and Telisai.[4] These villages have their own village heads, whom handle matters pertaining to residency and community in respective villages.[2] As Keramut, Penapar Danau, Sungai Paku, Telamba and Tumpuan Ugas do not have designated village heads, the residents in these areas may deal on related matters with the chiefs of neighbouring Danau and Telisai. Binchaya, Bukit Pasir, Pengkalan Dalai and Penyatang are unpopulated.
