Its population was 2,418 in 2009.[2] It is located at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level on the main highway about 30 km west northwest of Ala-Buka. In Soviet times, the activity of the settlement was dependent on the mine and the Chatkal Geological Expedition. With the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, mine production sharply declined due to severance of economic ties, the abandonment of inventory and logistics management, and the fall in antimony prices. It resulted in the outflow of skilled labor, and in the decay of housing and utilities infrastructure. ClimateThe climate is continental with winter extreme temperatures of -35 to -40 and summer temperatures from +25 to +30. The snow cover is typically from October to May. The depth of soil freezing is up to 1 meter.[3] References1. ^2012 Law on the transformation of individual urban settlements of the Kyrgyz Republic and relating them to the category of village or city {{Chatkal places}}{{JalalAbad-geo-stub}}2. ^{{cite web |url=http://212.42.101.100:8088/nacstat/sites/default/files/%D0%94%D0%B6%D0%B0%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%BB-%D0%90%D0%B1%D0%B0%D0%B4%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%8F%20%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%82%D1%8C.pdf |title=2009 population census of the Kyrgyz Republic: Jalal-Abad Region |accessdate=2011-08-10 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110810173253/http://212.42.101.100:8088/nacstat/sites/default/files/%D0%94%D0%B6%D0%B0%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%BB-%D0%90%D0%B1%D0%B0%D0%B4%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%8F%20%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%82%D1%8C.pdf |archivedate=10 August 2011 |df= }} 3. ^ {{Citation | title = Program on ensuring vital activity and prospective of socio-economic development of Terek-Say settlement for 1998-2000 |publisher = Government of Kyrgyz Republic| date = April 20, 2007}} 1 : Populated places in Jalal-Abad Region |
