It is the first release with his new label, Verve Forecast[2] - his fifth overall with Universal Music Group, which released his first 4 albums through MCA and Geffen (Capitol Records, which released the singer's self-titled album, was owned by EMI until 2012, after being bought by UMG). The first single from the album is "Kiss Goodbye", which peaked at number 60 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The second single "Your Body is the Business" is currently{{when|date=October 2012}} at number 73 on the same chart. The third and last single "Graduated" is currently peaked in number 12 on the chart. BackgroundSpeaking in January 2011 to noted UK R&B writer Pete Lewis - Assistant Editor of Blues & Soul - Avant described his reasons for titling the album The Letter as being because it represents "a letter from me to my fans, to tell them what's going on in my life, what's going through my head, and my struggles as a man."[3] Track listing{{Track listing| extra_column = Producer | title1 = Graduated | extra1 = Coop The Truth | writer1 = Myron Avant, Cooper McGill | length1 = 3:25 | title2 = Hot 16 | extra2 = The Pentagon | writer2 = Myron Avant, Eric Dawkins, Antonio Dixon | length2 = 3:55 | title3 = Kiss Goodbye | extra3 = The Pentagon | writer3 = Antonio Dixon, Myron Avant, Eric Dawkins | length3 = 3:48 | title4 = Had Enough | extra4 = Kajun | writer4 = Myron Avant, Kriss Johnson | length4 = 3:38 | title5 = Body Police | extra5 = Kajun, The Avila Brothers | writer5 = Kriss Johnson, Issiah Avila, Jr., Bobby Ross Avila | length5 = 4:03 | title6 = Nightlife | extra6 = Mike City | writer6 = Myron Avant, Mike City | length6 = 3:05 | title7 = Your Body is the Business | extra7 = Berris Bolton | writer7 = Myron Avant, Berris Bolton, A.
