"The Slave's Lament" is a song first published in 1792 in Volume Four of the Scots Musical Museum.[1] The lyrics were written by Robert Burns.[2][3] The full text can be found on the Bartleby.com site[4] part of Robert Burns (1759–1796). Poems and Songs. (The Harvard Classics. 1909–14).
