January

  • January 2 – President Obama signs the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010, {{USBill|111|H.R.|847}}, into law at his vacation rental house, Plantation Estate, in Hawaii.[1]
  • January 4 – President Obama signs 35 acts into law including the Government Performance and Results Modernization Act of 2010 and the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act.[2]
  • January 10 – President Obama leads a national moment of silence for the victims of the 2011 Tucson shooting.[3] French President Nicolas Sarkozy meets with President Obama at the White House in anticipation of France's hosting of the G8 and G20 summits.[4]
  • January 12 – President Obama has a morning meeting with Prime Minister Saad Hariri of Lebanon.[5] Afterward, the President and First Lady Michelle Obama travel to Tucson, Arizona, where they visit Representative Gabrielle Giffords and other survivors of the recent shooting; later, the President delivers remarks at a memorial service for the six victims of the shooting.[6]
