Prior to the Olympics, Hodgson served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. While there, Hodgson picked up painting as a hobby. During the 1950s, Hodgson was part of the Painters Eleven which would earn him a position at the Ontario College of Art. [1] A native of Toronto, he died in Peterborough of Alzheimer's disease.
