Tomisławice represents one of the largest coal reserve in Poland having estimated reserves of 41 million tonnes of coal.[1] The annual coal production is around 2.6 million tonnes. According to many scientists, the Tomisławice coal mine is an extreme threat to the neighbouring nature protection Natura 2000 areas, including the protected Gopło lake. Its opening in May 2010 has resulted in many protests of local self-governments, farmers and ecological organisations.[2][3] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.poltegor.pl/ref/lr2006a.pdf|title=References|year=2010|publisher=poltegor.pl|accessdate=2010-09-28|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120313053018/http://www.poltegor.pl/ref/lr2006a.pdf|archivedate=2012-03-13|df=}} 2. ^http://www.express.bydgoski.pl/look/article.tpl?IdLanguage=17&IdPublication=2&NrIssue=1584&NrSection=200&NrArticle=179007&IdTag=401 Express Bydgoski - Bydgoszcz local newspaper 3. ^http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getDoc.do?type=WQ&reference=P-2010-3180&language=PL WRITTEN QUESTION by Judith A.
