In this film, Poirier explores the life of her daughter to better understand her and other young people who put their lives at risk with drugs. She enters the world of Montreal's street people, looking at addicts, prostitutes and people living with AIDS, to attempt to follow the events leading to her daughter's death.[2] The film's title is a reference to something her daughter had screamed out, "Let me go," just before being killed. In the film, director Poirier also interprets these words to mean that she must now let go of her departed daughter.[3] ReceptionTu as crié LET ME GO received numerous awards including the Genie Award for Best Feature Length Documentary, best feature film at the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois and best documentary feature at the Vancouver International Film Festival.[2]Stage adaptationIn 2007, the film's story was adapted for the stage by Nadia Capone as Let Me Go.[4] References1. ^{{cite book|last=Marchessault|first=Janine|title=Candid Eyes: Essays on Canadian Documentaries|publisher=University of Toronto Press|isbn=0-8020-8299-8|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=kqM_aGqcNzgC&pg=PA211&dq=%22Tu+as+cri%C3%A9+LET+ME+GO%22&hl=en&ei=1bWwTM6EC8GC8gaKh_ChCQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCcQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false|editor=Jim Leach, Jeannette Sloniowski|chapter=Sympathetic Understanding in Tu as crié LET ME GO|date=March 15, 2003}} 2. ^1 2 {{cite web|title=Tu as crié LET ME GO|url=http://www.onf-nfb.gc.ca/eng/collection/film/?id=33603|work=Collection|publisher=National Film Board of Canada|accessdate=9 October 2010}} 3. ^{{cite book|last=Spaas|first=Lieve |title=The Francophone Film: A Struggle for Identity|publisher=Manchester University Press|isbn=0-7190-5861-9|pages=109–110|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=suDmAWP6VzoC&pg=PA109&dq=%22Tu+as+cri%C3%A9+LET+ME+GO%22&hl=en&ei=1bWwTM6EC8GC8gaKh_ChCQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CDEQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q&f=false|date=1 April 2001}} 4. ^{{cite news|last=Tousignant |first=Isa|title=Let Me Go|url=http://www.hour.ca/stage/stage.aspx?iIDArticle=12565|accessdate=10 October 2010|newspaper=Hour|date=26 July 2007}} External links
