It is based in Minsk, Belarus. In 2019, the website was read by 62%[1] of all Belarusian internet users [2]. The newsroom includes 50 journalists. TUT.BY publishes around 200 news pieces about on domestic and foreign agenda daily. These include original stories and video, analytics, special projects, online broadcasts. In addition to the news section, TUT.BY has specialized sections (Auto, Lady, Finance, Afisha, Realty, Sport and others) and services like weather, exchange rates and others. History
In March 2000 tech journalist Sergey Dmitriev wrote on the forum of the newspaper “Komp'yuternyye vesti” saying that he had an idea to create a Belarusian internet project, and he was ready to gift that idea to anyone who puts it into life. His appeal attracted the attention of Yuri Zisser, the head of the private enterprise "Nadezhnyye programmy". Their meeting on 15 March 2000 can be considered the date of the start of TUT.BY. Nikolay Romanovsky suggested the name to the website. Sergey Dmitriev wanted to make a free e-mail service for Belarusians, similar to Mail.Ru. Andrey Kononovich and Kirill Voloshin (journalists of the newspaper “Komp'yuternyye vesti”), and Danil Rudenko, a programmer with experience in developing electronic mail services and websites, contributed to the launch of the project. After some consideration, the idea transformed into the project of a Belarusian portal under the supervision of Zisser, Voloshin and Rudenko. The founder of TUT.BY Yuri Zisser said their goal was to create a Belarusian Yahoo. In the beginning portal offered free e-mail service, news with an archive, weather forecast, exchange rates, fuel prices, forums and hit counters. Later it began to provide paid website hosting and sell online advertising. Gradually new sections, services and projects appeared on TUT.BY.
In 2017 TUT.BY was recognized a well-known [https://news.tut.by/society/542175.html trade mark] in Belarus. In 2017 TUT.BY joined the [https://nn.by/?c=ar&i=189027&lang=ru Free Basics] project, a joint initiative of mobile service provider life and Facebook to ensure the availability of mobile Internet. TUT.BY supplied news for the project alongside Wikipedia, UN Women and others. TUT.BY and BelarusFeed created a collection of postcards “Welcome To Belarus”. The postcards were handed out to foreigners travelling to Belarus to mark the introduction of the 5 days visa-free entry. In 2017 TUT.BY was among 30 Belarusian companies that signed the “Cooperation agreement of the socially responsible companies in Belarus in the implementation of corporate social responsibility projects”. The agreement was initiated by the local social fund Fond Dobra, part of the [https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/TUT.BY#cite_note-3 UN Global Compact Network Belarus].

CriticismIn December 2017, Tut.By has been mentioned among several other Belarusian independent media that had allegedly removed or edited old news stories about the 2015 arrest and ten months long imprisonment of the businessman Viktor Prokopenya from their websites. This was allegedly done after the media were approached by Prokopenya's public relations advisors. The situation has caused a wide discussion among Belarusian journalists and media professionals.[5][6][7][8] References1. ^{{Cite web|url=https://news.tut.by/press/628842.html|title=62% аудитории Байнета — охват TUT.BY по данным gemiusAudience|last=|first=|date=|website=TUT.BY|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=}} 2. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.euneighbours.eu/en/east/eu-in-action/stories/sustainable-media-key-independence|title=Sustainable media: the key to independence|last=|first=|date=27 April 2018|work=EU NEIGHBOURS east|access-date=}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=https://tutby.com/news/5340.html|title=Новый рекорд у новостей TUT.BY|last=|first=|date=13 February 2019|website=https://tutby.com|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=}} 4. ^{{Cite web|url=http://marketing.by/mnenie/aleksandr-demidovich-tut-by-nativnye-spetsproekty-v-video-formate-trend-no-eto-netochno/|title=Александр Демидович, TUT.BY: Нативные спецпроекты в видео формате — тренд, но это неточно|last=|first=|date=19 February 2019|website=Marketing.by|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=}} 5. ^{{cite news|title=«Пракапеня – герой, які ўскрыў гнайнік».
