The service offers on-demand and scheduled tutoring to students in grades 4 through 12 and college. Users can connect with live tutors online in more than 40 subjects including math, science, essay writing, foreign language and test prep. Since launching in 1998, the company has facilitated over 16 million tutoring sessions with approximately 3,000 tutors. Tutor.com was founded in 1998 by George Cigale. In its early years, the company focused on partnerships with libraries across the United States who would provide online tutoring to their patrons. The company has since expanded to multiple markets including colleges, universities, employee benefits, the United States Department of Defense and also consumer services for families to purchase directly. In January 2013, IAC announced a purchase of Tutor.com for an undisclosed amount.[5] Then in August 2014 Princeton Review was acquired by Tutor.com, which was still an IAC company at that time.[6] On March 31, 2017, IAC, owner of Match Group, sold the Princeton Review along with Tutor.com to ST Unitas, a Korean education company.[7][8] Tutor.com is located at IAC headquarters in Manhattan, New York.{{Update inline|?=yes|date=May 2018}} The company has been featured prominently in The Wall Street Journal,[9] Forbes,[10] The New York Times[11] and CNN[12] when discussing the increasing trend of on-demand tutoring and educational technology.
