Brown soup or Ulava Charu is a fine delicacy{{Who says|date=May 2015}} from the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. This particular dish is also very popular in Andhra Pradesh Guntur and Krishna districts. This is a soup made with Horse gram. In Telugu language, spoken locally, Ulava (singular)/Ulavalu (plural) means Horse gram, a legume with the botanical name Macrotyloma uniflorum and Charu or Chaaru means soup. It is a local delicacy served in all lavish parties. Expatriate Telugu people crave for this delicacy and never miss eating it when visiting their home in Andhra Pradesh{{Who says|date=February 2018}}. It is homemade, usually in villages, because the preparation is labor-intensive. However the ready-to-eat packaged Ulava Chaaru is readily available in all urban and rural food supply stores in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
