Based upon parallax measurements from the Hipparcos satellite, it is roughly 168 light years away. The primary, component Aa, is a variable star of the RS CVn type. The variability of the star is believed due to a combination of cool star spots and warm flares, set against the baseline quiescent temperature of the stellar atmosphere. The variability appears to be cyclical with a period of 8−9 years.[7] References1. ^1 {{citation | display-authors=1 | last1=Karataş | first1=Y. | last2=Bilir | first2=S. | last3=Eker | first3=Z. | last4=Demircan | first4=O. | title=Kinematics of chromospherically active binaries and evidence of an orbital period decrease in binary evolution | journal=Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society | volume=349 | issue=3 | pages=1069–1092 | date=April 2004 | doi=10.1111/j.1365-2966.2004.07588.x | bibcode=2004MNRAS.349.1069K |arxiv = astro-ph/0404219}} Vizier catalog entry[1][2][3][4][5]2. ^1 2 {{citation | last1=Strassmeier | first1=Klaus G. | title=Starspots | journal=The Astronomy and Astrophysics Review | volume=17 | issue=3 | pages=251–308 | date=September 2009 | doi=10.1007/s00159-009-0020-6 | bibcode=2009A&ARv..17..251S }} 3. ^1 2 3 {{citation | last1=Guetter | first1=H.
