Club careerBorn in Orihuela, Alicante, Verza finished his formation with Villarreal CF's youth system, going on to appear several years with the reserves in the lower leagues. On 22 June 2003, he made his first-team – and La Liga – debut, playing the last 20 minutes in a 1–4 home loss against Real Betis.[1] In January 2005, Verza was loaned to Segunda División side Recreativo de Huelva until the end of the season.[2] In July, he joined neighbouring Córdoba CF in Segunda División B.[3] In January 2007, after being sparingly used by the Andalusians, Verza moved to Orihuela CF on loan,[4] signing permanently in July. After a one and a half years with the Valencian club, he signed a two-year deal with Albacete Balompié in the second level.[5] In the following years, Verza was an undisputed starter for the Castile-La Mancha side but, after its relegation in 2011, he terminated his contract[6] and signed with fellow league team UD Almería shortly after.[7] Verza appeared in 40 league matches in his second season (plus four in the play-offs), helping the Rojiblancos return to the main division after a two-year absence. He played his first game in the competition in more than one decade on 19 August, starting in a 2–3 home loss to former club Villarreal,[8] and scored his first goal late in the month by netting from the penalty spot in a 2–2 home draw against Elche CF.[9] On 8 February 2014, Verza grabbed a brace at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos to help hand Atlético Madrid its second consecutive loss of the campaign, scoring the final 2–0 through a penalty.[10] On 7 February of the following year, he scored an own goal and a penalty in a 1–1 home draw against Getafe CF for the Copa del Rey.[11] On 8 June 2015, Verza signed a four-year deal with fellow league team Levante UD after his contract expired.[12] On 31 August 2017, he returned to Almería after agreeing to a one-year loan deal.[13] On 29 August 2018, Verza terminated his contract with the Granotes,[14] and joined second division side CF Rayo Majadahonda two days later.[15] References1. ^Villarreal 1–4 Betis Sevilla {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140226125551/http://espnfc.com/en/report/98456/report.html?soccernet=true&cc=3888|date=26 February 2014}}; ESPN FC, 22 June 2003 2. ^Valero y Verza fueron presentados (Valero and Verza were presented); Mundo Deportivo, 3 February 2005 (in Spanish) 3. ^El Córdoba ficha a Juan Navarro, Verza y Jonathan (Córdoba sign Juan Navarro, Verza and Jonathan); Diario de Córdoba, 22 July 2005 (in Spanish) 4. ^El Córdoba cede a Verza al Orihuela (Córdoba loan Verza to Orihuela); Marca, 8 January 2007 (in Spanish) 5. ^Verza ficha por el Albacete (Verza signs for Albacete); Marca, 1 July 2008 (in Spanish) 6. ^Verza rescinde su contrato y Kike se marcha al Tenerife (Verza terminates his contract and Kike goes to Tenerife) {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110622071218/http://canalalba.laverdad.es/noticias/2011-06-21/verza-rescinde-contrato-kike-20110621.html|date=22 June 2011}}; La Verdad, 21 June 2011 (in Spanish) 7. ^Verza se convierte en el primer refuerzo del Almería (Verza becomes Almería's first addition); Marca, 29 June 2011 (in Spanish) 8. ^Valiant Villarreal open with win {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140118091610/http://espnfc.com/en/report/373216/report.html|date=18 January 2014}}; ESPN FC, 19 August 2013 9. ^Almeria denied first win {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140110052317/http://espnfc.com/en/report/373190/report.html?soccernet=true&cc=null|date=10 January 2014}}; ESPN FC, 30 August 2013 10. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.marca.com/eventos/marcador/futbol/2013_14/primera/jornada_23/alm_atm/|title=Ádiós liderato, hola dudas|trans-title=Goodbye first place, hello doubts|publisher=Marca|language=es|date=8 February 2014|accessdate=17 February 2014}} 11. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.marca.com/eventos/marcador/futbol/2014_15/copa/octavos/ida/alm_get/index.html?a=95c30fb4dd047ae7aa100ca37589fa25&t=1420679230|title=Verza deja todo abierto para la vuelta|trans-title=Verza leaves everything open for the second leg|publisher=Marca|last=Egea|first=Pablo|language=es|date=7 January 2015|accessdate=8 January 2015}} 12. ^{{cite web|url=http://es.levanteud.com/noticias/levante25180.html|title=El Levante UD llega a un principio de acuerdo con Verza para las cuatro próximas temporadas|trans-title=Levante UD reaches agreement in principle with Verza for the following four seasons|publisher=Levante UD|language=es|date=8 June 2015|accessdate=8 June 2015|dead-url=yes|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150611094616/http://es.levanteud.com/noticias/levante25180.html|archive-date=11 June 2015|df=dmy-all}} 13. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.udalmeriasad.com/noticia/el-almeria-cierra-el-fichaje-de-verza-que-volvera-a-vestir-de-rojiblanco|title=El Almería cierra el fichaje de Verza que volverá a vestir de rojiblanco|trans-title=Almería complete the signing of Verza who will wear red-and-white again|publisher=UD Almería|language=es|date=31 August 2017|accessdate=1 September 2017}} 14. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.levanteud.com/es/info/verza-se-desvincula-del-levante|title=Verza se desvincula del Levante|trans-title=Verza cuts ties with Levante|publisher=Levante UD|language=es|date=29 August 2018|accessdate=30 August 2018}} 15. ^{{cite news|url=https://as.com/futbol/2018/08/31/segunda/1535714589_348890.html|title=Verza y Ramírez completan la plantilla del Rayo Majadahonda|trans-title=Verza and Ramírez complete the squad of Rayo Majadahonda|publisher=Diario AS|language=es|date=31 August 2018|accessdate=31 August 2018}} External links
