Its highest peak Bandera has an elevation of {{convert|1,155|m|abbr=on}} above sea level. Astronomical stationOn the top of the mountain, there is a new Astronomical Station of the Belgrade Observatory,[2] on the location at an altitude of {{convert|1,150|m|abbr=on}} and with minimal light pollution.[3] The {{convert|60|cm|abbr=on}} Cassegrain telescope was installed in spring of 2011.[4] The new telescope is named “Nedeljković”, after Milan Nedeljković (1857-1950), the first director and founder of Belgrade Observatory in 1887. In the next phase, in spring 2016, a {{convert|1.4|m|abbr=on}} fully robotic telescope was installed at the station.[5][6] It has been named “Milanković”, after Milutin Milanković, a geophysicist, civil engineer and astronomer who was the director of the Observatory from 1948 to 1951.[4] Telescope “Milankovic” will be part of the Worldwide Network of Robotic Telescopes. Further infrastructure and expansion of the pavilions is planned for 2017 with the support from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation.[3] Though the telescope is operational, it has no dome above it. Due to the problems with funding and construction companies which are building it, it won't be finished until the spring of 2018, so there is a possibility that a temporary roof will be placed.[7] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.psd-kopaonik.org.rs/03KatalogplaninaSrbije.html|title=Katalog planina Srbije|publisher=PSD Kopaonik Beograd|author=Jovan Đokić|access-date=2011-05-18|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110518143835/http://www.psd-kopaonik.org.rs/03KatalogplaninaSrbije.html|archive-date=2011-05-18|dead-url=yes|df=}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.novosti.rs/vesti/naslovna/aktuelno.69.html:288352-Seli-se-glavno-oko-Srbije |title=Seli se glavno oko Srbije|date=2010-06-12 |publisher=Večernje Novosti |language=Serbian}} 3. ^1 {{cite web|url= http://www.politika.rs/sr/clanak/377858/Nebeske-oci-Zvezdare-gledaju-sa-Vidojevice|title=Nebeske oči Zvezdare gledaju sa Vidovice|date=2017-04-07 |publisher=Politika|language=Serbian }} 4. ^1 Future Robotic observatory on Mountain Vidojevica:site and equipment specification 5. ^“Future science with metre-class telescopes” Dr. Milan Bogosavljević 6. ^http://firstlight.aob.rs/rationale.html "First light of the Milanković telescope" 7. ^{{Citation | author = Darko Pejović| title = Vidojevica je srce Zvezdare | newspaper = Politika | page = 11 | language = Serbian | date = 11 September 2017 }} 3 : Mountains of Serbia|Astronomical observatories|Astronomy in Serbia |
