Traditionally the area was part of Lower Carniola and is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Sava Statistical Region.[3] The settlement includes the hamlets of Zgornje Vodice, Spodnje Vodice ({{lang-de|Unterwoditz}}[2]), and Greben.[4] NameThe name of the settlement was changed from Vodice to Vodice pri Gabrovki in 1953.[5] In the past the German name was Woditz.[2] ChurchThe local church is dedicated to Saint Agnes ({{lang-sl|sveta Neža}}) and belongs to the Parish of Gabrovka.
