Its transmitter is located in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. From 1977–2006, the station was known as WUPE-FM. WUPE began operations in 1977 as a top 40 station which evolved to soft adult contemporary and then oldies. After oldies, the WUPE-FM call sign and format were moved to 100.1 FM. From 1975–1977, the station was known as WGRG-FM, and programmed as progressive rock.
