Ford, who were Members of the Legislative Assembly for Kent County in 1835. A 1920s newspaper article states "The first Representative for the County of Kent was Judge Weldon who returned in 1828 and continued as sole member until representation was increased and Mr. J. P. Ford, formerly of Halifax, who built the Fords Mills in the Richibucto River returned with him. Colonel David McAlmon subsequently took Mr. Ford's place and he and Judge Weldon were returned for four years. McAlmon was later substituted for Senator Wark and he and Weldon were members until 1850." In the 2011 Census Weldford had a population of 1,318. GovernanceThe entire parish forms the local service district of the parish of Waterford, established in 1966 to assess for fire protection. Non-fire related rescue was added in 2012. First aid and ambulance services (1982–2012) were formerly included. DelineationWeldford Parish is defined in the Territorial Division Act[2] as being bounded: South by Saint-Paul and Sainte-Marie Parishes; west by the prolongation of a line running north twenty-two degrees west by the magnet of the year one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, from a point on the County line between Westmorland and Kent Counties, distant twenty miles from the north point of Shediac Island; east and north by a line beginning at a point on the westerly prolongation of the northern line of Wellington Parish, at the intersection of a line running south from the mouth of Black Brook; thence northerly along said line to the mouth of Black Brook; thence down the East Branch of and the main Saint Nicholas River to the Richibucto River, thence up said river to the west line of lot number 9, granted to William Harley; thence northerly along said line and its northerly prolongation to the rear line of the Richibucto River Indian Reserve number 15; thence by a line running true west to the western boundary of the parish.
