It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.[1] The house's bungalow/craftsman architecture, of then current vogue, demonstrates that the tiny town was connected to the national marketplace. It is a nearly square building, with a deep front porch, and is unusual for having an elevator. It was built for William Johnson, a banker in Fruitdale.[2] References1. ^1 {{NRISref|2009a}} {{National Register of Historic Places in South Dakota}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Johnson, William, House (Fruitdale, South Dakota)}}{{SouthDakota-NRHP-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|url={{NRHP url|id=86000928}}|title=National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: William Johnson House |publisher=National Park Service |author= |date= |accessdate=February 2, 2017 }} with {{NRHP url|id=86000928|photos=y|title=two photos from 1984}} 4 : Houses in Butte County, South Dakota|Houses completed in 1909|Houses on the National Register of Historic Places in South Dakota|National Register of Historic Places in Butte County, South Dakota |
