释义 |
The Warren Icefall is an icefall entering the south part of Wright Upper Glacier north of Vortex Col. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in 2004 after Alden Warren, Geography Discipline, U.S. Geological Survey; photographer (scientific and technical) in the preparation of United States Geological Survey (USGS) maps of Antarctica, 1956-2004.[2] Vortex Col is a col leading from the plateau into the south side of the glacier. At this locality, winds carrying clouds of snow from the polar plateau are deflected by Mount Fleming and funneled down this depression. The descriptive name was given by New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee (NZ-APC).[3] References1. ^{{cite gnis|type=antarid|id=16817|name=Wright Upper Glacier|accessdate=2018-09-03}} {{USGS}}{{McMurdoDryValleys-geo-stub}}2. ^{{cite gnis|type=antarid|id=18695|name=Warren Icefall|accessdate=2018-09-03}} 3. ^{{cite gnis|type=antarid|id=16137|name=Vortex Col|accessdate=2018-09-03}} 2 : Glaciers of the Asgard Range|McMurdo Dry Valleys |
