The station is owned by Midwest Communications and features two local morning talk shows as well as local news and updates from Fox News Radio at the top of every hour.[1] The station carries talk shows from Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and Joe Pagliarulo, as well as Coast to Coast AM. WSAU is also the local outlet of Green Bay Packers football, Milwaukee Brewers baseball, and Wisconsin Badgers football play-by-play. WSAU radio towers are located along County Highway X in Kronenwetter, Wisconsin. In September 2009, WSAU began simulcasting WSAU-FM 99.9 in Rudolph, Wisconsin (near Stevens Point). HistoryThe Milwaukee Journal Company began operation of WSAU June 20, 1947. Along with the purchase, the Journal Company absorbed the previous owner, Northern Broadcasting Company.[2] Originally broadcasting on 1400 kHz with 250 watts, later moving to the present 550 kHz, the frequency of the now defunct WOSA, which was owned and operated by Congressman Alvin E O'Konski, who later founded WAEO-TV, Rhinelander.
