DescriptionThe fort measures {{convert|250|m|abbr=on}} from east to west and {{convert|150|m|abbr=on}} from north to south, covering an area of {{convert|7.25|acres|abbr=on}}. It has two sets of ramparts and ditches. The inner rampart is between {{convert|16|m|abbr=on}} and {{convert|20|m|abbr=on}} wide, rising up to {{convert|2.6|m|abbr=on}} in height, with the surrounding inner ditch {{convert|10|m|abbr=on}} wide and up to {{convert|1.7|m|abbr=on}} deep. The outer rampart is {{convert|10|m|abbr=on}} wide and up to {{convert|3|m|abbr=on}} in height, with the outer ditch being {{convert|10|m|abbr=on}} wide and up to {{convert|1.2|m|abbr=on}} deep. There are fortified entrances at the east and south west.[1] Small bronze rings, including an Iron Age terret, were found in the fort in 1884, and Roman coins and masonry have been found nearby, suggesting a possible site of a later Roman Villa.
