History

A construction permit was granted to Florida City Radio by the F.C.C. on February 18, 2008, to start this station. The call letters were issued on July 15, 2008 but the station didn't to on the air until Salem began its local marketing agreement with Florida City Radio. WZAB made its debut on October 7, 2008.[1]

880 AM is a United States clear-channel frequency. WZAB uses a highly directional antenna array (8 towers) in order to prevent interference to the nighttime skywave signal of WCBS in New York City. WCBS is the dominant Class A station on this frequency.
