Playing for Russia, he became 2006 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship winner. During the 2011 preseason, while on trial with Baltika, Bobrovsky injured his cruciate ligaments. He needed another surgery on his knee later in that year. Bobrovsky returned to competitive football in 2012 with Akademiya Tolyatti in the Russian Second Division, but after the end of that season he decided to retire as pain in his knee restricted him from ever playing football at the top level again.
