He is a member of the Hellenic Parliament with the conservative New Democracy party since 2002.[2] Background, business and political careerPapathanasiou was born in Athens on January 1, 1954. He studied Electrical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens.[1] He has been chairman and managing director of the company ‘I. D. Papathanassiou SA - Trading of technological equipment for buildings since December 31, 2002.[1] He has been Member of the Board of Directors (1982–1988), Secretary General (1988–1993) and President (1994–2000) of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
