Yemenis have been present in the UK since the 1860s, and are probably the longest-established Muslim group in the country, although currently much smaller than some other British Muslim groups.[1] DemographicsThe 2001 UK Census recorded 12,508 Yemeni-born people in the UK.[1][2] Recent estimates are of 70,000 to 80,000 people, including British-born people of Yemeni descent.[1] The National Association of British Arabs categorises Yemen-born immigrants as Arabs. Based on census data, it indicates that they are the seventh largest population of British Arabs by country of birth.[3] Communities{{Location map+ | UK| caption = Main Yemeni communities in the UK 1=Birmingham, 2=Cardiff, 3=Hull, 4=Liverpool, 5=London, 6=Manchester, 7=Middlesbrough, 8=Newport, 9=Sheffield, 10=South Shields, 11=Swansea | places = {{Location map~ |UK |label={{abbr| 1|Birmingham}} |position=right |lat_deg = 52.483 |lon_deg = -1.894 }} {{Location map~ |UK |label={{abbr| 2|Cardiff}} |position=bottom |lat_deg = 51.29 |lon_deg = -3.11 }} {{Location map~ |UK |label={{abbr| 3|Kingston upon Hull}} |position=right |lat_deg = 53.74 |lon_deg = -0.332 }} {{Location map~ |UK |label={{abbr| 4|Liverpool}} |position=left |lat_deg = 53.4 |lon_deg = -2.98 }} {{Location map~ |UK |label={{abbr| 5|London}} |position=right |lat_deg = 51.507 |lon_deg = -0.127 }} {{Location map~ |UK |label={{abbr| 6|Manchester}} |position=bottom |lat_deg = 53.28 |lon_deg = -2.14 }} {{Location map~ |UK |label={{abbr| 7|Middlesbrough}} |position=right |lat_deg = 54.575 |lon_deg = -1.234 }} {{Location map~ |UK |label={{abbr| 8|Newport, Wales}} |position=right |lat_deg = 51.35 |lon_deg = -3.00 }} {{Location map~ |UK |label={{abbr| 9|Sheffield}} |position=right |lat_deg = 53.384 |lon_deg = -1.467 }} {{Location map~ |UK |label={{abbr|10|South Shields}} |position=right |lat_deg = 54.99 |lon_deg = -1.429 }} {{Location map~ |UK |label={{abbr|11|Swansea}} |position=left |lat_deg = 51.37 |lon_deg = -3.57 }} }} Yemenis are present across the entire UK.
