HistoryThe company was established by Franz Zentis on 20 June 1893 in Aachen as a trading company.[2] Real breakthrough came in 1900, with the production of FAMOS a jam made from dried apricots and sugar. There are three Zentis facilities in the United States. Pope Benedict XVI is among the company's patrons; every December near Christmas, a German banker from Bavaria, a Munich native named Thaddaeus Joseph Kuehnel, hand-delivers sweets from the company to the Vatican, along with Bavarian sausages from the Pope's favorite restaurant, Franziskaner, and special mustard.{{citation needed|date=December 2010}} References1. ^{{cite web | url = http://www.insideindianabusiness.com/newsitem.asp?ID=25293 | title = Zentis Executives Visit Company's First North American Plant | accessdate=2008-09-14 | date = 2007-09-06}} 2. ^{{cite web | url = http://www.zentis.com/gesamt.php?lang=en_US&kopf=11-01-00-00-00&link=11-00-00-00-00 | title = History of Zentis | accessdate=2008-09-14}} External links
