The municipality covers an area of {{convert|16.03|km2|sqmi}}, and has a population of 1,957 (as at 13 June 2008). Želechovice nad Dřevnicí lies on the Dřevnice river, approximately {{convert|6|km|mi|0}} east of Zlín and {{convert|259|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} east of Prague. The village is situated east of the town of Zlin. The state road I/49, which connects Zlin with Vsetin and Slovak border goes through the village. The village also lies on the train track of regional importance (Otrokovice-Zlin-Vizovice track, code 331). This track is not electrified, but offers a good range of regional public transport. Zelechovice nad Drevnici is connected to local public transport network of Zlin and Otrokovice towns (provider DSZO, Dopravni podnik Zlin-Otrokovice/Public transport company Zlin-Otrokovice) with trolleybus line number 12.
