It concluded on 19 September 1995 with the final. Ards were the defending champions after their first League Cup win last season; a 2–0 penalty shootout victory over Cliftonville in the previous final. This season they went out in the second round to Coleraine, who had been runners-up for the past two seasons. Portadown were the eventual winners, lifting the cup for the first time with a 2–1 victory over Crusaders in the final.[1][2]First round{{OneLegStart}}{{OneLegResult|Ards||2–0|Queen's University}}{{OneLegResult|Armagh City||2–3|Crusaders}}{{OneLegResult|Ballyclare Comrades||0–1|Banbridge Town}}{{OneLegResult|Carrick Rangers||1–0|Cookstown United}}{{OneLegResult|Chimney Corner||0–1|Ballymena United}}{{OneLegResult|Cliftonville||5–0|Limavady United}}{{OneLegResult|Coleraine||3–1|Ballinamallard United}}{{OneLegResult|Distillery||0–1|Harland & Wolff Welders}}{{OneLegResult|Dundela||0–1|Portadown}}{{OneLegResult|Dungannon Swifts||1–2|Bangor}}{{OneLegResult|Glenavon||5–0|Moyola Park}}{{OneLegResult|Glentoran||3–0|Brantwood}}{{OneLegResult|Larne||3–0|Ballymoney United}}{{OneLegResult|Linfield||6–0|RUC}}{{OneLegResult|Loughgall||3–4 (aet)|Omagh Town}}{{OneLegResult|Newry Town||2–0|Tobermore United}}|} Second round{{OneLegStart}}{{OneLegResult|Ards||1–2|Coleraine}}{{OneLegResult|Ballymena United||0–4|Portadown}}{{OneLegResult|Carrick Rangers||2–0|Banbridge Town}}{{OneLegResult|Cliftonville||6–1|Bangor}}{{OneLegResult|Crusaders||1–0|Harland & Wolff Welders}}{{OneLegResult|Glentoran||0–1|Linfield}}{{OneLegResult|Larne||0–1|Glenavon}}{{OneLegResult|Omagh Town||3–1|Newry Town}}|} Quarter-finals{{OneLegStart}}{{OneLegResult|Carrick Rangers||2–6|Omagh Town}}{{OneLegResult|Cliftonville||0–0 (0–3 p)|Crusaders}}{{OneLegResult|Coleraine||0–3|Glenavon}}{{OneLegResult|Portadown||0–0 (5–4 p)|Linfield}}|} Semi-finals{{OneLegStart}}{{OneLegResult|Crusaders||3–1|Omagh Town}}{{OneLegResult|Portadown||3–0|Glenavon}}|} Final{{footballbox|date=19 September 1995 |time= |team1=Crusaders |score=1 – 2 |aet= |report=Report |team2=Portadown |goals1= |goals2= |stadium=Windsor Park, Belfast |attendance= |referee= }} References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.rsssf.com/tablesn/nilleagcuphist.html|title=Northern Ireland - List of League Cup Finals|work=Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation|publisher=rsssf.com|accessdate=24 December 2012}} {{Irish League Cup seasons}}{{Football in Northern Ireland}}{{1995–96 in European Football (UEFA)}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Irish League Cup 1995-96}}2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.rsssf.com/tablesn/nil96.html|title=Northern Ireland 1995/96|work=Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation|publisher=rsssf.com|accessdate=24 December 2012}} 3 : 1995–96 in Northern Ireland association football|1995–96 domestic association football cups|Irish League Cup seasons |
