The population density was {{convert|576.0|PD/sqmi}}. There were 27,986 housing units at an average density of {{convert|281.0|/sqmi}}. The racial makeup of the city was 87.6% White, 7% African American, 0.3% Native American, 1.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.7% from other races, and 2.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.7% of the population.[4] Of the 22,431 households, {{#expr:20.1+6.7+22.8}}% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.3% were married couples living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.8% were non-families. 21.6% of all households were made up of individuals and {{#expr:2.9+6.9}}% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 2.95.[4] In the city, the population was spread out with {{#expr:6.2+6.7+7.1+6.4}}% under the age of 20, 4.4% from 20 to 24, {{#expr:5.4+5.8+6.7+6.8}}% from 25 to 44, {{#expr:7+6.6+6.1+6.8}}% from 45 to 64, and 1.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40.9 years. For every 100 females, there were approximately {{#expr:2769400/29393 round 0}} males. For every 100 females age 20 and over, there were approximately {{#expr:(27964-1846-1998-2064-1944)*100/(27964-1685-1871-2015-1729) round 0}} males.[4] {{as of|2010}}, the median income for a household in the city was $53,815. The per capita income for the city was $27,070. SportsIn 2020, North Port will be the Spring Training home for the Atlanta Braves.
