The 2000 Pukapuka-Nassau by-election was a by-election in the Cook Islands electorate of Pukapuka-Nassau. It took place on 28 September 2000. The by-election was caused by the invalidation of the 1999 Pukapuka-Nassau by-election.[1] The Cook Islands Parliament subsequently passed an Electoral Amendment Act providing for a second by-election and the re-registration of voters in the electorate.[2] The election was contested by two candidates, and won by the Democratic Alliance Party's Tiaki Wuatai.[3] {{Election box begin| title=Pukapuka by-election 2011}}|party = Democratic Party (Cook Islands) |candidate = Tiaki Wuatai |votes = 210 |percentage = 50.5% |change = }} |party = Cook Islands Party |candidate = Inatio Akaruru |votes = 206 |percentage = 49.5% |change = }} |votes = 416 |percentage = |change ={{Election box end}} References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://pidp.org/archive/1999/December/12-09-06.htm |title=Another by-election for Cook Islands Pukapuka-Nassau seat |publisher=Pacific Islands Development Program/East-West Center |date=1999-12-08 |accessdate=2014-02-09}} 2. ^{{cite web |url=http://pidp.org/archive/2000/January/01-14-07.htm |title=NO WORD ON SECOND PUKAPUKA AND NASSAU BY-ELECTION DATE |author=Alex Sword |publisher=Pacific Islands Development Program/East-West Center |date=2000-01-11 |accessdate=2014-02-09}} 3. ^{{cite web |url=http://pidp.org/archive/2000/December/12-06-10.htm |title=PUKAPUKA/NASSAU PETITION HEARING DECEMBER 15 |author=Alex Sword |publisher=Pacific Islands Development Program/East-West Center |date=2000-11-29 |accessdate=2014-02-09}} 3 : By-elections in the Cook Islands|2000 elections in Oceania|2000 in the Cook Islands |
