释义 |
The Falkland Islands general election of 2001 was held on Thursday 22 November 2001 to elect members to the Legislative Council through universal suffrage using block voting.[1] Chief Executive Michael Blanch acted as Chief Counting Officer.[2] The election took place on the same day as the referendum on merging Stanley and the Camp into a single electoral constituency elected by proportional representation. At the start of the campaign the Democratic Association, one of the only political parties in the history of the Falkland Islands, had suggested it would field as many as eight candidates. However, all candidates in the election stood as nonpartisans. The Democratic Association strongly opposed the 1999 Treaty allowing Argentine Nationals to visit the Falklands.[3] Election resultsStanley constituency{{Election box begin for list| title= Stanley result[2]}}{{Election box candidate with party link||party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Michael Summers |votes = 541 |percentage = 16.89 |change = -0.21 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Stephen Luxton |votes = 407 |percentage = 12.70 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = John Birmingham |votes = 405 |percentage = 12.64 |change = -1.86 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Jan Cheek |votes = 356 |percentage = 11.11 |change = -8.09 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Richard Cockwell |votes = 334 |percentage = 10.42 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Eric Goss |votes = 291 |percentage = 9.08 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Ian Doherty |votes = 283 |percentage = 8.83 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Sharon Halford |votes = 231 |percentage = 7.21 |change = -6.59 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = June Besley-Clark |votes = 135 |percentage = 4.21 |change = -0.89 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Rod Tuckwood |votes = 120 |percentage = 3.75 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Kevin Ormond |votes = 101 |percentage = 3.15 |change = N/A }}{{Election box turnout |votes = 823 |percentage = 68.7 |change = }}{{Election box end}} Camp constituency{{Election box begin for list| title= Camp result[2]}}{{Election box candidate with party link||party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Norma Edwards |votes = 179 |percentage = 26.56 |change = +2.36 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Roger Edwards |votes = 168 |percentage = 24.93 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Philip Miller |votes = 92 |percentage = 13.65 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Ian Hansen |votes = 89 |percentage = 13.20 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Richard Stevens |votes = 86 |percentage = 12.76 |change = +0.66 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Christopher May |votes = 38 |percentage = 5.64 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Nonpartisan |candidate = Robin Goodwin |votes = 22 |percentage = 3.26 |change = N/A }}{{Election box turnout |votes = 250 |percentage = 82.2 |change = }}{{Election box end}} Referendum resultsThe question posed by the referendum was:[4] {{quote|Do you agree that there should be a SINGLE CONSTITUENCY for the Falkland Islands, with a new voting system for proportional representation?}}{{Referendum| title = Falkland Islands electoral boundary referendum, 2001 | yes = 456 | yespct = 43.35 | no = 596 | nopct = 56.65 | validpct = 98.50 | turnoutpct = 71.11 | valid = 1052 | invalid = 16 | invalidpct = 1.50 | electorate = 1502 | total = 1068 | source = [2] }} Results by constituency
