释义 |
Periodic elections for the Tasmanian Legislative Council were held on 3 May 2008. The two seats up for election were Huon, held by independent MLC Paul Harriss, and Rosevears, held by independent MLC Kerry Finch. These seats were last contested in 2002. HuonIndependent MLC Paul Harriss had held Huon since 1996. A former Liberal Party member, there was speculation about his endorsement as a federal Liberal candidate for the federal seat of Franklin in the 2007 federal election, but this did not eventuate.[1] His only opponent was Huon Valley councillor Mark Rickards, an endorsed candidate of the Tasmanian Greens, who focused his campaign on Harriss's support for the Gunns pulp mill.[2] {{Election box begin|title=Tasmanian Legislative Council periodic elections, 2008: Huon[3] }}{{Election box candidate AU party |party = Independent |candidate = Paul Harriss |votes = 12,149 |percentage = 62.04 |change = +12.61 }}{{Election box candidate AU party |party = Greens TAS |candidate = Mark Rickards |votes = 7,435 |percentage = 37.96 |change = +37.96 }}{{Election box formal| |votes = 19,584 |percentage = 96.32 |change = -1.31 }}{{Election box informal| |votes = 748 |percentage = 4.68 |change = +1.31 }}{{Election box turnout| |votes = 20,332 |percentage = 82.86 |change = -4.75 }}{{Election box hold AU party| |winner = Independent |swing = }}{{Election box end}} RosevearsIndependent MLC Kerry Finch first won Rosevears in 2002, when it was a new seat.[1] He was not opposed by the Tasmanian Greens, which was attributed to his opposition to the Gunns pulp mill and his generally socially liberal views. Like Harriss, he attracted only one challenger, in this case independent Colin O'Brien. O'Brien gave qualified support to the pulp mill.[2] {{Election box begin|title=Tasmanian Legislative Council periodic elections, 2008: Rosevears[4] }}{{Election box candidate AU party |party = Independent |candidate = Kerry Finch |votes = 12,990 |percentage = 72.66 |change = +45.43 }}{{Election box candidate AU party |party = Independent |candidate = Colin O'Brien |votes = 4,889 |percentage = 27.34 |change = +27.34 }}{{Election box formal| |votes = 17,879 |percentage = 95.30 |change = -0.75 }}{{Election box informal| |votes = 881 |percentage = 4.70 |change = +0.75 }}{{Election box turnout| |votes = 18,760 |percentage = 80.16 |change = -5.97 }}{{Election box hold AU party| |winner = Independent |swing = +21.87 }}{{Election box end}} References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://tasmaniantimes.com/index.php/article/a-little-bit-of-harriss-and-finch|title=A little bit of Harriss and Finch|last=Tucker|first=Peter|last2=Bonham|first2=Kevin|work=Tasmanian Times|date=17 March 2008|accessdate=14 March 2013}} {{Tasmanian elections}}2. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://tasmaniantimes.com/index.php/article/harriss-and-finch-part-2|title=Harriss and Finch, Part 2|last=Tucker|first=Peter|last2=Bonham|first2=Kevin|work=Tasmanian Times|date=2 May 2008|accessdate=14 March 2013}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Division of Huon|work=2008 Legislative Council election results|publisher=Tasmanian Electoral Commission|url=http://www.electoral.tas.gov.au/pages/LegislativeCouncil/LC2009/Results/Huon/08Huon_Publish.gif|year=2008|accessdate=14 March 2013}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Division of Rosevears|work=2008 Legislative Council election results|publisher=Tasmanian Electoral Commission|url=http://www.electoral.tas.gov.au/pages/LegislativeCouncil/LC2009/Results/Rosevears/08Rosevears_Publish.gif|year=2008|accessdate=14 March 2013}} 4 : 2008 elections in Australia|Elections in Tasmania|21st century in Tasmania|May 2008 events |
